So, it actually is two ropes in one: It is heavy and thin where you use it for leading and it gets thicker and softer on the other end. When using the end to put pressure on the horse, it causes discomfort in the moment of use but does not cause lasting pain! The 3.5 meter Soft Rope is ideal for basic training. by Florian Oberparleiter® The Soft Rope with a length of 7.5 meters is a versatile piece of equipment. Florian uses it mostly in advanced groundwork, but in special cases also in basic training. Use in advanced groundwork:
- By using the length of the rope, you can slowly increase the distance in groundwork and thus strengthen the connection with your horse to the next level. To do this, you need to attach the rope to the halter with a standard carabiner.
- Nature did not design the horse’s head for it to carry a weight or the pull of a rope. For this reason, you can also place this rope around the horse's neck. This way there is no more pull on the head and your horse has the possibility to carry itself freely. The prerequisite is that you have prepared and trained your horse accordingly.
- Particularly large or ponderous horses sometimes need a longer rope than others. Here the 7.5 meter Soft Rope offers a sufficient length.
- When working with problematic horses, which often react particularly panicky or even aggressive, the length of the rope gives more security. Of course, special caution is required here. Florian strongly recommends that you seek professional help in such cases.

by Florian Oberparleiter® In advanced groundwork, Florian’s aim is that the horse barely gets in physical contact with the stick. When he reaches this goal, he switches the Soft-Stick to the Guidance-Stick. Due to its weight and length, the Guidance Stick is an ideal tool for advanced groundwork. Alternative applications:
- Basic training: Since the rope of the Guidance Stick can absorb less water than the one of the Soft-Stick, Florian Oberparleiter recommends the use of the Guidance Stick already for basic training in rainy weather and wet surfaces.
